OWASP Board 2024

Time to vote for OWASP leadership My voting receipt

The OWASP 2024 board elections are open. OWASP has outsize influence over application security. It’s a go-to authoritative source, many of its projects are recognized in international standards, and more.

And the election videos have fewer than 100 views each. As an OWASP member and supporter (even though I’m sometimes critical), I encourage anyone who reads this blog to join and get involved in making the organization better.

My notes on the candidate videos:

  • Harold Blankenship talks about the goals of the board and his perspective as a staff member. Gets my vote.
  • Elastos Chimwanda talks about expanding the membership, and expanding research. I don't see research as a key strength of OWASP, which are more about community and standardizing and spreading knowledge.
  • Ricardo Griffith wants to grow educational tools and resources to make information accessible and create a certification process. Gets my vote.
  • Adeel Javaid wants to start an OWASP innovation lab to develop groundbreaking security improvements for AI and quantum computing.
  • Ashwini Siddhi doesn't discuss her goals for the organization in her very short video.
  • Diego Silva Martins talks about community, projects and fundraising in a very general way in his short video. Gets my vote.
