Russia

Some thoughts on Russia and the election The Soviet flag

Russia is an enemy to the United States. They do not share our values of freedom and democracy. For much of my life, the Republican party was united by their stalwart opposition. The line “if you don’t like it, why don’t you move to Russia” wasn’t one Democrats would have said.

Russia started a war, invading Ukraine. I wish Obama had responded more strongly to their invasion of Crimea, and that we had given them the military aid that Congress voted for. Holding that aid against his own, personal goals, was the cause of Trump’s first impeachment. I respect the tightrope that the Biden administration has walked to keep Americans from dying in Ukraine, while supporting an ally against aggression.

Russia has its thumb on the scale of this, and the past several elections. Recently, they have released anti-Harris and anti-Walz content. (See here.) Russia interfered in the 2016 election to promote candidate Trump. The Senate Intelligence Committee, in a bipartisan report, said “The Committee found that the Russian government engaged in an aggressive, multi-faceted effort to influence, or attempt to influence, the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.” The special counsel report found numerous links between the Russian government and the Trump Campaign. The FBI still has the perpetrators on its Most Wanted List. Trump’s own Director of National Intelligence believes that Trump is being blackmailed by Putin.

Russia murders politicians and those opposed to Putin, including Alexei Navalny. It has murdered Sergei and Yulia Skripal, and Alexander Litvinenko in the UK.

Trump brags about talking to Putin, in his half-denial way. His ...

Jesus fucking christ. I cannot believe I’m spending time writing about why Russia’s bad and why a candidate with their active support shouldn’t have the backing of the Republican party, the Democratic party, or any American.

I have a perspective. I’ll talk about what I’m going to do later, in another post. For right now, I want to encourage every patriotic American: Don’t vote for Russia.
