It seems likely that the error here is in representing the data in a pie chart, not in the math. Unless we know for sure that the poll required the respondents to only select one candidate the numbers are perfectly reasonable. If for instance the questions was “Which of the following GOP candidates would you support if they ran in 2012?” then it would seem that on average the respondents selected two out of the three.

The real problem is that “Huckabee”, “Palin”, and “Romney” are all fictitious names designed to make the Republicans look foolish!
