Happy New Year!
Our new year’s resolution is to show a sense of childlike wonder at and acceptance of everything we come across, especially this year’s [link to http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/leapsec.html no longer works] leap second [link to http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/bulletinc2008.html no longer works].
Incidentally, this post is scheduled to go live at 2008-12-31 23:59:60. Let’s see what happens!
Update: Movable Type complained when I tried to save the post: “Invalid date ‘2008-12-31 23:59:60’; authored on dates should be real dates.” There goes my sense of wonder. Acceptance, however, remains.
Is your Moveable Type configured to use PST?
The leap second occurs simultaneously worldwide at 23:59:60 UTC, so MT would have been correct to reject 2008-12-31 23:59:60 PST as invalid — I believe you got your leap second at 2008-12-31 15:59:60 PST
Happy 2009, Adam 🙂
Happy new year!
Wish you all the best and joy and wonderful things to become true this year!
It’s 2009!
Phil,
It’s actually configured to use EST/EDT, but an excellent point. I’ll have to remember to test better the next leap second.
Die, Cyrillic spammers. Die! Die!
I only noticed this post at 10:44 EST Jan 1 2009. Guess it didn’t work.
