Also, Health Care IT news reports that “Federal privacy panel leader resigns, raps standards” [link to http://www.healthcareitnews.com/story.cms?id=6553 no longer works]:

The leader of a federal panel charged with providing privacy recommendations for the national health information network resigned Wednesday, thwarted, he said, in efforts to develop adequate standards.

    Most people don’t even realize taht they are unwittingly part of the e-prescription system. When they call their doctor to ask for a prescription, many doctors today simply have the secretary type the order into a computer, eliminating at least of those “professionals” from the equation.
